Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose has sent a cease and desist to Google after learning about the ‘fat memes’ the internet has created about him. Rose demanded the pictures, which depicts Rose in a white dress shirt, ripped jeans, and red bandana while wearing a huffy scowl, be taken down immediately. The photos were taken at a show back in 2010 where the band was touring in support of the notorious Chinese Democracy. The majority of the memes center around GNR puns while making light of his corpulent appearance. Needless to say, they depict the singer in a less-than-flattering light.
As reported by Harvard University’s Lumen Database, Axl Rose has filed 11 requests since May 31 of this year in order to have the pictures taken down. In issuance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, an official statement was sent to both BlogsSpot and GoogleUserContent which reads:
“Copyright image of Axl Rose. Please be advised that no permission has been granted to publish the copyright image so we cannot direct you to an authorized example of it.”
Yet despite the defamatory nature of the so-called ‘fat memes,’ the 80’s rock star is looking lean and healthy these days as he’s pulling double duty on the road fronting both Guns ‘N’ Roses as well as legendary Australian rock band ACDC. It appears these days the only “Appetite” that Rose has is for justice.
