Avicii has officially retired from touring.

The 26 year old producer, real name Tim Bergling played his final show at Ushuaia in Ibiza over the weekend. The outdoor mega-venue has been home base to the Swedish resident DJ for over five years.

Shortly after the show, Avicii took to Instagram to reflect on his final set and thanked his fans for thier support.

“This sunday was my last show. But far from my last days in the world of music. Creating music is what makes me happy and I have gotten to know so many great people in my days of touring, seen so many amazing places and created endless of good memories. The decision I made might seem odd to some but everyone is different and for me this was the right one. Thank you to all my fans, my friends and family and everyone in the aviciicrew/family. This has been our journey together.”

Avicii announced his retirement from live performances in March with a heartfelt letter to fans: “I have too little left for the life of a real person behind the artist,” he wrote. He did, however, promise to continue writing  and making music: “I will however never let go of music – I will continue to speak to my fans through it.”

We hope to see new music from Avicii in the months ahead but for now check out some fan captured footage of his final set on YourEDM.
