It’s that time of year when artists around the world are initially recognized for their music with Grammy nominations. While the designation itself is not quite a win (yet), those who are in the running for an award take great pride in being considered as someone worthy of a coveted Gramophone trophy.
Some of those eligible for a Grammy include Dua Lipa, Camila Cabello, Travis Scott, Shawn Mendes, Demi Lovato, Bebe Rexha, Mark Ronson and many more in a number of different categories such as Record, Album, Song and Artist of the Year.
After receiving their nominations, some performers took to social media, voicing their congratulations to each other as well as their own gratitude toward the Recording Academy.
“I don’t know how I’m writing this right now … it’s so many emotions. Just super-thankful to all the fans and supporters,” Scott reacted in a statement regarding the selections of best rap performance (“Sicko Mode”), best rap song (“Sicko Mode”) and best rap album (Astroworld).
Rexha tweeted about her and her fellow countrywoman Dua Lipa: “Two Albanian girls nominated for 2 Grammys. In my heart we already won. To all the Albanian girls and all the girls around the world, anything is possible so keep following your dreams and keep on breaking the mold.”
Cardi B’s situation was by far the most bizarre, as she found out about her five nominations while she left her arraignment for a fight that took place at a strip club in August.
