The 46th annual American Music Awards took place last night at Microsoft Theater in Los Angles – hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross and this years ceremony brought in the best of the best artists and performances. In addition to the awards given to superstars like of Taylor Swift (who won a total of four) and Cardi B (winning the first trophy of the night), multiple performances took place.

Dua Lipa brought the heat with a mashup of her two biggest hits this year, “One Kiss” and “Electricity” which featured the same aesthetic as the latter’s music video, except with the addition of neon paints and a trust fall that got everyone’s heart racing.

Wreathed in cherry blossoms and purple lights, Shawn Mendes manned the stage with Zedd to present their remix of Mendes’ “Lost in Japan.” Mendes played guitar and Zedd played piano while the backing band handled the upbeat elements of the danceable number, which brought most of the AMAs crowd to their feet.

After taking home the award for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist, Cardi B led one of the evening’s most electric, unforgettable performances. Although it’s getting cold outside, Cardi brought back the summer block party feel with her performance of “I Like It,” which included blaring horns, pounding percussion and bright colors.
