In the aftermath of the shootings that took place outside the gay nightclub Pulse in Orlando, Florida, Adele dedicated her concert in Antwerp, Belgium to the victims that night. Local police identified the gunman as 29-year-old Omar Mateen, who took the lives of 50 individuals while wounding 53 more. Adele opened her show with “Hello” before addressing the audience with enthusiasm, before eventually tearing up.
“I would like to start tonight by dedicating this entire show to everybody in Orlando at Pulse nightclub. The LGBTQA community, they’re like my soulmates since I was really young, so I’m really moved by it. I don’t know why I’m crying already because most of tonight is pretty miserable because my songs are f—ing miserable.”

Adele is one of many celebrities showing her outright support and paying homage to the victims to what President Barack Obama calls “the most deadly shooting in American History.” Lin-Manuel Miranda addressed the incident in a Sonnet for his acceptance speech at the Tony Awards, while host James Corden shared similar sentiments.
